Re: version control. I lead a team of 3-5 engineers and we develop predominantly in eclipse. Since SVN connectors can be integrated into eclipse, it makes it very easy to commit/merge/update/see changes right in the IDE which is fairly convenient. We use Trac as our ticketing system, which has hooks into the SVN repository and has a nice timeline that lists info on every check-in (or ticket change) and shows diffs directly on the web.

Since there are only a few of us, we all work directly on the head 99% of the time. (Though since our stuff is service oriented, it gives us the freedom that new experimental things are usually in their own bundle anyway, and won't affect the main system until integrated).

    Hope that was helpful
